Providence Equity Partners Named a Founder-Friendly Investor by Inc. Magazine

October 4, 2022

NEW YORK – October 4, 2022 – Providence Equity Partners L.L.C. (“Providence”), a premier private equity firm specializing in growth-oriented investments in media, communications, education and technology, today announced that it has been recognized as a Founder-Friendly Investor by Inc. Magazine on its annual list of private equity and venture capital firms that have helped founder-led businesses accelerate growth and create value. Providence was recognized as a leading investor in the middle market as well as the Business, Products and Services sector, and Inc. highlighted Providence’s long track record of backing visionary founders and supporting their exceptional teams.

“At Providence, we pride ourselves on our true partnership approach with the founders and executives of the companies in which we invest, and we appreciate the opportunity to work with them to help pursue their companies’ potential. We are honored that Inc. has recognized our collaborative approach and named Providence as one of North America’s most founder-friendly investors,” said Davis Noell, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of North America at Providence.

“For over three decades, Providence has sought to consistently identify and partner with outstanding entrepreneurs at the forefront of their industries. This is a key part of our investment strategy, and our sector-focused approach means we can support entrepreneurs with the resources, expertise and network to help them better execute their vision. We are fortunate to have found so many opportunities where our culture, values and goals align closely with those of the teams we are investing behind,” said David Phillips, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of North America at Providence.

Providence’s investment philosophy is rooted in forming deep partnerships with founders and entrepreneurs to build long-term value and enduring franchises. Over the past decade, the companies in Providence’s two most recent funds have added over 26,000 jobs, a testament to the firm’s ethos of encouraging entrepreneurs to prioritize organic and inorganic growth as the principal means of value creation.

Founders and entrepreneurs who partner with Providence gain access to leading resources, which they can leverage to help meet their business objectives. The firm’s dedicated team of portfolio operations professionals assist with a broad range of initiatives, including market research, pricing optimization, sales force organization and effectiveness and acquisition sourcing and integration. Founders and entrepreneurs also gain access to Providence’s broad network of industry relationships built over three decades of experience in media, communications, education, and technology.

“Fully investing in an entrepreneur, and their innovative vision, involves far more than the financial investment. By developing relationships with and supporting entrepreneurs for the long-term, these private equity firms are more than investors, they’re partners,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. media.
